Information

Founded in 2000, the Denver-based Colorado Gay Ice Hockey Association (CGIHA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to train GLBT hockey players for national and international competition in an environment free from all forms of harassment and discrimination, and which encourages fair play, openness, and friendship; and to provide a compelling and social atmosphere which promotes the growth of leadership, coaching, and playing skills.

The CGIHA overseas the Coors Light Colorado Climax hockey teams which participate as openly gay teams in mainstream leagues and in North American tournaments.

Little rusty? It’s all good for Climax Evolution
Usually being a little rusty is a bad thing for a sports team. But for the Colorado Climax Evolution hockey team, being a little rusty can be just what the doctor ordered. In this case, it was little Rusty Messick, the diminutive yet feisty forward, that made all the difference in the Evolution’s 6-0 win over Fortrust on Feb. 9th.
Third period outburst lifts Climax Too
After two consecutive heart-breaking one-goal losses, the Coors Light Colorado Climax hoped its next opponent, Slump Busters, would live up to its name and help snap the two-game losing streak. While the Climax Evolution surprises, and the Climax goes to Wendy's.

Gay athletes are making their mark
Former CGIHA players compete in the Friendship Cup, a hockey game pitting an all-gay team made of rec league all-stars against a straight team of local all-stars. The straight team won the first two years, the gay team captured the next two and this year was the tiebreaker

Climax Captures Fifth League Championship
Goalie George Maresh made six saves in the final 46 seconds, and Gary Skogen and Chris Norris scored goals to give the Coors Light Colorado Climax a 2-1 win over Regis University and its fifth divisional championship in the mainstream Ice Centre at The Promenade's Adult Hockey League on April 18 in Westminster, Colo.
Climax teams ascend to top of divisions
Chris Empson scored a hat trick and added an assist, and Rebecca Godsill had a goal and two assists as the Coors Light Colorado Climax Too defeated the Slumpbusters 6-3 on December 15 and padded its division lead to six points. Meanwhile, on December 13 the Climax won its fourth consecutive game and took over first place in the B-3 division. It's the first time in Climax hockey history that two teams have held first place in their divisions simultaneously.
